Student & Clinical Assessor WBA Resource Page
Dear Students and Clinical Assessors,
We are delighted to welcome you to this Workplace-based Assessment (WBA) resource page.
‘We’ are the Australasian Collaboration for Clinical Assessment in Medicine (ACCLAiM). The collaboration was formed in 2010, bringing medical schools in Australia and New Zealand together around clinical assessment. The group has several aims, mainly to promote excellence in clinical assessment through:
- developing a community of practice;
- providing benchmarking; and
- providing quality assurance
in clinical assessment (WBA and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations, OSCEs).
Excellence in clinical assessment would not be possible without utilising the expert judgement brought by highly valued clinical assessors. To facilitate the most effective use of assessors' clinical experience in assessing the clinical performance of medical students, and to enable students to get valuable feedback and progression, we are excited to share these short, tailored resources with you.

In creating these video resources, we have drawn upon the wisdom of experts in the field of clinical assessment from many medical schools in Australia and New Zealand. We have specifically crafted these resources to be relevant to assisting assessors and learners across the continuum of medical education, from medical students to junior doctors to registrars and fellows, as we acknowledge that clinical assessors are usually involved in supervising and assessing multiple levels of learner simultaneously.
If you have any feedback on these resources, or would like to suggest further resources for our Collaboration to create to make the task of a clinical assessor more streamlined – please contact the ACCLAiM Administrator via acclaim@utas.edu.au (opens in a new tab).
We hope that you find these resources valuable, and we wish to thank you for your individual contribution to graduating our future medical workforce!
